Mendoza, Argentina: Part 2

The second day in Argentina we visited two wineries.  They were both larger wineries so we didn't get to see the behind the scences.

At the first winery we had lunch, that was good, but not as good as the lunch we had the day before.

See Jeff's reflection in the glass.

The second winery for the day, Andeluna.  It was a smaller winery was housed in this fabulous former home...I loved it.

The cellar.

Overall, we really enjoyed Mendoza and we would love to go back some day.

Mendoza, Argentina (Argentina's wine country)

Jeff and I went to Argentina for a week in January.  Jeff had to be in Brazil for work so we decide to tack on a week vacation.  Since we visited Brazil last year we decided this year we would go to Mendoza and Buenos Aires, Argentina.   The first 4 days we spent in Mendoza and the remaining 3 days in Buenos Aires.  In Mendoza we enjoyed lots of great wine and food, including fabulous steak.  The steak here in Spain is not very good, so I was coveting a good steak.

A view from the plane of the Andies.
The city of Mendoza.

We stayed at the Park Hyatt.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Mendoza.  We actually ate there twice, once for dinner and once for lunch.

The bread basket was AMAZING!!!
Steak.

Quinoa salad with mozzarella.
Tuna tartar.
Empanadas.

Achaval Ferrer was the first winery we visited.  It was a great tour and the wines were excellent.
During our tour we were able to see behind the scences.  Normally you don't get to see the behind the scences unless you visit a smaller winery.
Here we got to taste a view varieties right from the barrel.
The Andies from the winery.
The second winery of the day we had a great lunch, which included wine pairings.  We were a little buzzed by the end and headed back to the hotel for a nap.

Stay tuned for 2 more winery visits.

NYC visits BCN

In February my BFF came to visit from NYC with his partner Mykie.  We had a great time...they were here for 1 week.  It was a busy week.

Here they are.
Me and Mike at La Boqueria.
 The Lobster.
We went up to the top of the Christopher Colombus statue.

Us in front of a government building.
I was sick the first few days of their visit so I chilled out at the nearest Starbucks while they toured the sites I directed them too.  One good thing that came of that...I found a cupcake shop ;-)
One night we visited a dessert restaurant, where we had dessert tapas.  We got to sit in the kitchen and watch them work.  We had some interesting combos, most of them were good.

We visited Parc Guell.  Mykie likes his photo taken ;-)

 We visited Palau Guell.

Had a few great dinners.
Took the train 1.5 hours from Barcelona to the Dali Musuem.
Another day we went to Montserrat.
We also visit St. George castle.

 Then the Joan Miro Museum.
As you can see it was a busy week.
